NHS Dental Patients
Patients should register with a dentist. There is currently a waiting list for registration. Forms can be picked up from any of the NHS Orkney Dental Surgeries.
It is currently taking about 2 years to remove patients from the waiting list.
Emergency treatment can be accessed Monday to Friday from 0845 - 1045 by 'phoning the Dental Helpline on (01856) 888280. After 1045 Monday to Friday, the helpline will be redirected to one of the NHS clinics.
Out of surgery hours, please 'phone NHS 24 on 08454 242424 where your problem will be triaged and a dentist called out, if necessary.
Repairs to and replacement of dentures are not normally part of the emergency procedure. Please contact your own dentist or (01856) 875348

Balfour Oral Surgery Unit
The Balfour Oral Surgery Unit has one salaried dentist and is based in the St Ninian car park at the Balfour Hospital. The unit provides some general dental services and specialist services of Oral surgery and treatment of the dentally anxious.
There is a ramp for wheelchair access.
