National Waiting List Validation – Patients Waiting Over 10 Weeks
From Monday 5 October, patients (who are over 16 years old) who have been waiting over 10 weeks for an outpatient or inpatient appointment or who are a return patient waiting past their recall date and who do not currently have an appointment in certain specialities will be contacted by The National Elective Coordination Unit (NECU) on 0345 646 0565:

Weather disruption to appointments and patient travel
Following the weekend of windy weather, unfortunately some of our visiting clinicians were unable to travel to Orkney and likewise some patients due to travel south for appointments have also been unable to travel. As a reminder, if your appointment is affected, we will contact you directly. Where an appointment has to be cancelled, a new date will be offered as soon as the service can be rescheduled. Patient travel arrangements will be rebooked once the new appointment is confirmed, so you do not need to contact Loganair or NorthLink yourself. Orkney Alcohol and Drugs Partnership film premiere of “Alcohol Free in Orkney”
On National Alcohol Action Day, 12 November, The Orkney Alcohol and Drugs Partnership will premiere their “Alcohol Free in Orkney” short film in partnership with Arclett. Arclett is a specialist alcohol prevention platform which focuses on early behaviour change. The premiere will take place in the King Street Halls, Kirkwall from 4pm where everyone is invited to attend. This film features Martin Gray sharing his own story, explaining how his own relationship with alcohol has changed. The Scottish Government monitor the performance of each health board on an ongoing basis, and part of the process includes an Annual Review. Members of the public are invited to join NHS Orkney’s Non-Ministerial Annual Review on Wednesday 18 November from 12pm – 2pm at The Balfour, to hear about a range of developments underway to further improve care and services for our community and patients.
