Real Life Story: Courtney Peace (McCheyne-Robb) – Project Manager
For Courtney, joining NHS Orkney was about coming home. Originally from Stronsay, she had spent 10 years living in Grampian before deciding to return to Orkney. “I’d been working remotely for NHS Grampian from Orkney for two years, but I wanted to work for NHS Orkney because I’m invested in what happens here. The work feels more meaningful when you can see the positive impact on your own community.”
Courtney joined NHS Orkney in June as a Clinical Governance Support Officer, stepping into a role that gave her new experiences and insights into a different side of the NHS. “I was involved in things I’d never done before and worked alongside a fantastic team.”
Recently, she moved into her current role as Project Manager within the Improvement Hub team. “It’s an exciting change, and I’m looking forward to getting settled in and contributing to projects that improve care for everyone.”
Living in Orkney has been just as rewarding as working here: “I love the close-knit nature and sense of community. It’s easy to form deep friendships, and there’s a shared culture that makes it easy to connect with people. Plus, the island environment creates a healthy work-life balance – nature is right on your doorstep.”
Courtney also enjoys learning about Orkney’s history and heritage: “It’s fascinating and always useful knowledge to have.”
Her proudest moment? “Joining NHS Orkney. I finally felt right at home.”
