Today 5 May, on International Day of the Midwife, we recognised our first DAISY Honouree recipient, Midwife, Morag Linklater.

Our first Honouree Morag, is an incredible midwife who’s career spans over 40 years with NHS Orkney! Sam Thomas and Lauren Flett proudly presented the Healer’s Touch Sculpture to Morag with many of her colleagues and family present at a special ceremony today held in the Maternity Unit, on International Day of the Midwife.

Every DAISY Award nomination receives a certificate then, once a quarter, our award committee reads and scores the nominations using criteria that focuses on compassionate care and values. The committee then choose the one nominated nurse or midwife who really has gone above and beyond to become the recipient of the Healer’s Touch Sculpture and become a DAISY Honouree.

With thanks to you, the community, and our staff for your nominations we have managed to present lots of certificates of nomination across our clinical areas since we launched in January and we are delighted to have our first DAISY Honouree in Orkney.

If you’d like to nominate a nurse or midwife for a DAISY Award, you can do so by heading to our website, https://www.ohb.scot.nhs.uk/feedback-and…/daisy-awards/.

Don’t forget to supply lots of details on why you are nominating the individual.
