Flu Vaccine Clinics for Children aged between 2 and 5 years old

The flu vaccine is given as a nasal (nose) spray, it is quick, easy, and painless.
For those children aged between 2 and 5 years old (not in school) and registered with Stromness Surgery or on the ferry linked isles, your practices will be in touch with you directly regarding flu vaccines.
For children registered with Skerryvore, Heilendi, Dounby or Daisy Villa Practices, from next Friday, 3October, we will be offering drop-in flu clinics at The Balfour for all those children aged between 2 and 5 years old (not already in school).
The clinic dates will be offered on the following dates and by surname. Where possible, please attend on the day that corresponds to the first letter of the child’s surname:
- A-G: Friday 3 October
- H-M: Friday 10 October
- N-Z: Friday 17 October
The clinics will run from 10am – 12pm and 2pm – 4pm on each of the above days, please do attend whenever suits you between the dedicated times and on the appropriate day. Please report to Central Reception on arrival.
Dr Elvira Garcia, Consultant in Public Health Medicine at NHS Orkney said: “I’d like to remind everyone of the importance of vaccinations, by having the vaccine your child is less likely to catch and spread flu to others who are at a greater risk, including babies, grandparents, and people with long-term health conditions.”
