NHS Orkney’s 2024/25 Ministerial Annual Review

The Scottish Government monitor the performance of each health board on an ongoing basis and part of the process includes an annual review. This year our annual review includes Mr Gray, Health Secretary attending in person to conduct the review.
Members of the public are invited to NHS Orkney’s Ministerial Annual Review on Monday 6 October from 2pm – 3pm at The Balfour. This is an opportunity for staff and the community to come along to hear an update on the Health Board’s performance and its plans for the future. The meeting will include a summary of how we did in 2024/25 against our priorities and national standards and will cover both our achievements and challenges.
The meeting will be led by our Interim Board Chair, Davie Campbell, and attended by the Board’s Interim Chief Executive, Executive Team and wider Board members. Mr Neil Gray, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care will also be in attendance.
The review will be held in a hybrid way, with the in-person attendance taking place at The Balfour in the Brodgar Room from 2pm – 3pm and a MS Teams link will be available so that the meeting is accessible to all. The Teams link is here, MS Teams Link for Annual Review. Please do not join via the link until Monday 6 October.
There will be an opportunity for you to ask questions during the annual review at the question-and-answer session, these questions can be directly to Mr Gray, our Interim Board Chair and Interim Chief Executive or to any member of the Board. Questions should be submitted in advance by emailing ork.engagement@nhs.scot or by calling 01856 888197. Questions can also be dropped off or sent via post to The Balfour, addressed to “Board Secretary”. Questions should be submitted by Friday 26 September. Please remember even if you aren’t able to attend, you can still submit your questions.
Davie Campbell, Interim Chair at NHS Orkney said: “As we prepare to host our Ministerial Annual Review, I want to take a moment to emphasise just how important this event is not only for NHS Orkney, but for the community we serve. The review is a vital opportunity for us to reflect openly on our achievements, challenges, and the progress we’ve made in delivering high-quality care across Orkney.
This is your opportunity to get involved, if you have a question for the health board or the Cabinet Secretary for Health, please send your questions to us to be answered on the day, the details can be found above on how to do so. If you’d like to attend on the day to hear from us directly, please know you are warmly welcome. You can either join online via MS Teams or head along to The Balfour on Monday 6 October for 2pm.”
