NHSO Board Chair Update

Thank you all for your kind wishes over the last week. I have been quite blown away and humbled by them. Orkney is a truly wonderful place, and I have been privileged to be a part of it. We have had an offer accepted on a house, and our move south as a family has begun to move far swifter than originally planned. NHS Orkney is also in the fortunate position of having an experienced Vice Chair, Davie Campbell, who is able to flex and step up sooner and is very well-engaged in the organisation and community.
Therefore, my last substantive day in the organisation will be 15 August. Davie is already leading the recruitment of both the Interim and Substantive Chief Executive and is receiving support from the Scottish Government. Davie will therefore be Interim Chair with effect from 18 August and will Chair the Board meeting from August onwards. I wish him and the Board the best for the future, knowing that it is bright.
A thorough handover between Davie and myself is underway to ensure a smooth transition.
Being the Board Chair of this incredible organisation has been an immense honour. NHS Orkney is a special organisation that delivers care with kindness and respect to our wonderful community. I will treasure my memories forever.
