Patient Travel Advice
Following recent feedback regarding patients being unsure of how the patient travel process works, how to book flights and the eligibility of reimbursements, we wanted to provide some more information.
Please read below a general reminder for anyone travelling for hospital appointments.
Most of the patient travel information can be found on our website here, https://www.ohb.scot.nhs.uk/our-services/patient-travel/. Including all the forms required to be completed and the most frequently asked questions with answers.
If you have questions regarding travel entitlements and what you may be entitled to, please get in touch with the Travel Administration Team by calling 01856 888045 or emailing ork.traveladmin@nhs.scot and they will be able to talk you through everything.
If you are travelling by air please remember to follow the Loganair/relevant airport departure times. You must arrive at the airport at the correct time as directed by the airline even if you are travelling for a hospital appointment. Please also remember to take photographic ID when travelling.
If you are unable to travel for any reason, you must let the Travel Administration Team know as soon as possible.
If you receive an appointment that you feel could be carried out via Near Me (video call service), you can use the contact details on the appointment letter to ask the department directly.
