Following a very successful recruitment campaign, three new Non-Executive Members will join the board of NHS Orkney. Lynne Spence, Hayley Green and Michael Morrison will join the board later this month. Each of whom are already well-known faces to many across Orkney and it’s a real asset to have board members who are familiar with the community and local health board.

Davie Campbell, Chair of NHS Orkney said: “It’s great to announce these three new Non-Executive Members, which stabilises our organisation with a complete and substantive Board. They are very familiar with the local landscape and challenges we face in a remote and rural context. I look forward to working with Lynne, Hayley and Michael as they embed themselves into the Board and meet colleagues across NHS Orkney.”

Lynne Spence said: “It feels like a real privilege to step into a role where I can contribute meaningfully to an organisation and the community I care so deeply about. I have always been an advocate for high quality clinical standards and healthcare and I am looking forward to working with others to ensuring NHS Orkney delivers the best it can for the people of Orkney.”

Hayley Green said: “Orkney has been my home for the past 12 years, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to give something back by supporting NHS Orkney and working with partners to help our community thrive. I have always been passionate about the importance of strong and resilient communities, and I believe that improving health and wellbeing is about far more than healthcare alone. Prevention, early intervention and effective partnership working are vital if we are to meet the challenges ahead and ensure that people across Orkney can live healthy, fulfilling lives.”

Michael Morrison said: “Through my first-hand experience of NHS Orkney, I recognise both the value of high‑quality healthcare and the particular challenges of providing it in a rural and islands setting. I am committed to working with Board colleagues, staff and partners to strengthen sustainable, patient‑centred services and to ensure that care across Orkney remains safe, effective and compassionate.”

The new Non-Executive Members will join the Board on Monday 20 July.
