The Awards are due to take place in December and we’ll be cheering on Kirsty and Lyndsay as well as keeping you all updated.
Kirsty said: “I’m so happy that Lyndsay has been shortlisted. It’s well-deserved recognition for the huge amount of work she has put in to developing the General Practice Pharmacy team from scratch. My nomination took me by complete surprise, I didn’t know about myself until later, and I’m absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted too. I have very realistic expectations given the incredible calibre of the other nominees, but it’s a real privilege to represent Orkney and rural GPs. We’re both very excited to be travelling to London for the awards ceremony in December (weather/transport dependant!) to celebrate with so many inspiring people from across UK General Practice. General Practice is very much a team effort, and I am incredibly lucky to work with such dedicated and caring colleagues at Skerryvore and the extended primary care teams at NHS Orkney.”
Lyndsay said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been nominated and now shortlisted for the UK General Practice Awards! Orkney is full of fantastic clinicians working across all areas, and we’re really lucky to have such committed GP Practices throughout the county. I love being part of the general practice teams and feel like just one small piece of an amazing, wider team. A special shoutout to my brilliant primary care pharmacy team – I couldn’t do it without them. It’s honestly so humbling to have my work recognised like this. The Orkney community welcomed me with open arms six years ago, and ever since, I’ve just tried to do my best to provide safe, effective, and timely care to our patients. It means a lot to be part of something so special.”
