Getting your winter vaccines is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself and those around you, reducing the risk of serious illness and hospital admission.
To check if you are eligible for the winter vaccines, please head to, Winter vaccines | NHS inform. For awareness, please note the eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine has changed this year.
Dr Anna Lamont, Medical Director at NHS Orkney said “As we enter the Autumn and Winter months, we are seeing an increase in respiratory illnesses across Orkney which is a reminder to us all of the importance of getting vaccinated, if eligible. This year’s tagline is: flu hits hard, and for some, it hits harder. Vaccination is a step we can each take to keep ourselves well and to protect our families, friends and wider community. I encourage everyone who is eligible to come forward for their flu or COVID-19 vaccines as soon as possible.
If you do find yourself unwell and experiencing any cold or flu symptoms, please stay at home until you are feeling well again. Please do not visit your loved ones in hospital or care home settings, postpone these visits until you are feeling well. This is to protect you and your loved ones.”
