Real Life Story: Chloe Crawford – Business Support Officer

Chloe journey with NHS Orkney began when she was just 16, through a Modern Apprenticeship opportunity. School wasn’t the right fit for her, and she was ready to start her working career.

“I joined as a Modern Apprentice and studied for two years at Orkney College. Then I got the chance to do a Graduate Apprenticeship through Robert Gordon University, a four-year course, and I’ve just completed my Honours Degree in Business Management.”

Since joining in 2018, Chloe has grown into a key member of our Facilities team, supporting various departments across the organisation, and helping ensure the smooth delivery of essential services.

“Every day brings variety and the chance to make a real difference by keeping operations efficient and responsive. It’s a collaborative environment where your contribution truly matters.”

Her role spans contract management, compliance, facilities support, and service planning. She’s recently been involved in sustainability initiatives and investment planning – projects that are shaping the future of healthcare in Orkney.

“If you’re considering joining NHS Orkney, you’ll find a supportive team, opportunities to develop professionally, and the satisfaction of knowing your work directly benefits patients and the wider community.”

Chloe’s proudest achievement? Completing her Modern Apprenticeship and earning her Honours Degree – proof that with the right support and opportunities, you can build a fulfilling career close to home.
