Hayley Green

Hayley is absolutely delighted to have been appointed as a Non‑Executive Director of NHS Orkney. Having made Orkney her home for the past twelve years, this feels like a meaningful opportunity to give something back to a community that has given her so much.

Until Christmas 2025, Hayley worked as a Director at the Council with responsibility for Infrastructure and Organisational Development. That role brought her into contact with people across all of Orkney, and it left her in no doubt about how deeply we all care about the place we live and the services we both deliver and rely upon. Hayley retired at Christmas and has been enjoying the chance to use her time in productive and fulfilling ways — as well as appreciating the change of pace that comes with not working full‑time.

Since retiring, Hayley has continued to volunteer as Secretary for the Orkney Archaeology Society and has taken on trustee roles with the Pier Arts Centre, Stromness Museum, and Voluntary Action Orkney. When Hayley saw the advert for vacancies on the Health Board, it felt like a natural next step — a chance to continue contributing to island life and to support an organisation that touches the lives of everyone in our community.

Hayley is genuinely looking forward to getting involved and working with fellow Board members to help progress this important agenda for the people of Orkney.
