Lynne has lived and worked in Orkney for over twenty‑five years and brings a deep understanding of island life, community strengths and the challenges. A Registered Dietitian by background, she has worked across NHS services, public health, education and community development, including senior leadership roles within NHS Orkney and lecturing in Health & Care at UHI Orkney. She has a strong track record of working across sectors to improve outcomes for communities.
She has long been active in Orkney’s third sector, serving as a founder trustee of Orkney Charitable Trust, volunteering with the Orkney Foodbank, and supporting innovation and initiatives focused on reducing inequalities and strengthening wellbeing. Lynne is Chair of Kirkwall & St Ola Community Council and Chair of the Parent Council at Papdale Primary School, reflecting her commitment to local governance, partnership working and community voice.
As a mum of three children, she has a strong appreciation of the realities facing households in Orkney and the importance of strengthening community resilience. Deeply rooted in island life, she brings lived experience, strategic insight and a strong values‑base to her role on the Board, with a particular passion for dignity, fairness and collaborative approaches.
