Dave brings over 33 years’ experience working across a range of public sector organisations, including more than 10 years within the NHS in England. Prior to joining NHS Orkney, Dave has held a number of senior people and organisational development roles, most recently as Executive Director of People, Culture and Wellbeing at the University of Bradford.
Dave has a strong professional and academic background, holding an MA (Hons) in Classics and an MSc in Innovation and Improvement Science. He is a qualified coach, mentor and mediator, and is currently completing a doctorate at the University of Salford. Alongside his executive role, Dave is an honorary lecturer and contributes to teaching, research and conference activity focused on leadership, organisational development and working effectively in complex systems.
Dave has particular expertise in organisational development and change and is passionate about placing people, relationships and culture at the centre of organisational life. In his role at NHS Orkney, he is focused on nurturing a compassionate, inclusive and values‑driven culture where everyone can be the best they can be in supporting the people of Orkney.
