Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

What happens if I am unavailable for a set time whilst waiting?

If you know in advance that you are going to be unavailable for treatment for any reason (examples can include a holiday, medical or work related), please contact central reception at The Balfour on 01856 888100 to let us know. The maximum amount of unavailability is 12 weeks (after that you may be removed from the list and re-referred once ready for treatment). Please give us a clear start and end date when you contact.

What happens if I do not attend my appointment and do not give prior warning that I will be unable to attend?

If you do not attend your agreed appointment, you may be removed from the waiting list. If a clinician gives a clinical reason to offer another appointment, your waiting time may be started again from zero.

What happens if I cannot attend my appointment?

If you are unable to attend an appointment, please call The Balfour or the number on your appointment letter to let us know so we can give that appointment to another patient. If you cancel three or more agreed appointments, you may be removed from the waiting list. If a clinician gives a clinical reason to offer another appointment, your waiting time may be started again from zero.

What happens if the hospital cancels my appointment?

If the hospital has to cancel your appointment, you will be offered a new one as soon as possible. This will not affect your waiting position in the list.
