Do you have a birthday on 5 July?

The NHS in Scotland will celebrate its 70^th anniversary on 5 July 2018, at the same time we celebrate the life of the Balfour Hospital to date.

To help celebrate, NHS Orkney are planning to hold a birthday tea party in July for anyone who holds the birth date of the 5 July from 1948 to the present day, if this is you, then please get in touch with us at

Julie Nicol, Head of OD and Learning said “We wanted to take the opportunity of the 70^th anniversary to also celebrate the history of the Balfour Hospital to date, who better to celebrate with us than those who share the birthday  of the 5^th of July.   We are planning some other events and displays so are gathering photos of NHS Orkney and the Balfour hospital over the years.  We know there must be loads of photos out there and we would love you to share them with us. So if you have any old photos of staff or the hospital premises which you would consent to sharing then please get in touch.”  

Events are also being planned for staff and it is hoped that some old uniforms will be visible on the day!
