Looking after our community and providing excellent care

Maternity Update - July 2020

Following the latest Scottish Government guidance for visiting within Maternity Units we can advise the following:

  • Women can identify one supportive person to accompany them to their antenatal and post natal appointments in the Maternity Unit, provided that person is not ill or showing signs of Coronavirus.
  • Women in labour can be accompanied by one birth partner. We welcome a birth partner when in labour and whilst in hospital.
  • Women can identify one designated visitor in addition to the birth partner who will be able to visit them whilst in the Maternity. This should be pre-arranged with the Midwife in Charge.
  • No children are currently permitted

Visitor Information:

  • Identified members of the public visiting the Maternity Unit are asked to wear a face mask which are provided outside the Maternity entrance.
  • Strict hand hygiene must be adhered to by using the alcohol gel before applying the face mask and prior to entering the Unit and on leaving the Unit. Face masks can be removed at the outside entrance of the Hospital.
  • Physical distancing should be maintained during visits and visitors should not visit other patients or other clinical areas during their visit.
  • If visitors are unwell or have any other symptoms of Coronavirus they should not attend the Hospital.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back and hope that this will make your time with us a little bit more enjoyable.

In regard to Ultrasound Scans we have been advised of the following:

  • Currently under the social distancing measures, partners are unable to accompany their partner to scans due to limited space – when these measures change a further review will take place.
