NHS Orkney – The name of the new hospital and healthcare facilities

NHS Orkney is proposing that the name of the new hospital and healthcare facility currently under construction in Kirkwall and due to open in late summer 2019 will be the ‘The Balfour’.

This proposal reflects the very real affection for the name ‘Balfour’ expressed by both members of the public and staff; the name has also been associated with healthcare buildings in Orkney for many generations.

We welcome your views and there is an opportunity to comment on the proposed name for three weeks from Monday 12 February to Friday 2 March.
