Our community, we care, you matter...

Our Chief Executive and Board Chair want to hear what matters most to you

We want to hear about what matters most to our patients and community so we can continue our exciting improvement journey.

Your feedback will help us to develop our future strategy and focus.

Our survey will be open until Friday 16 February – please have your say by visiting this link: NHSO Corporate Strategy - Community Survey.

The next step is for us to get out into the community and hear your feedback first hand. Laura Skaife-Knight, Chief Executive and Meghan McEwen, Board Chair will be hosting in-person listening sessions across the county and online so you can share your feedback, views, experiences, and ideas that will shape our future focus and improvement plans.

The dates and times for the listening sessions are below:

  • Online Session via Microsoft Teams: Wednesday 14 February, 5pm – 6pm – via this link: Click here to join the meeting (if you have any issues with accessing this link, please get in touch via  ork.feedback@nhs.scot)
  • Pickaquoy Centre, Kirkwall: Monday 19 February, 5pm – 7pm
  • Milestone Kirk, Dounby: Saturday 24 February, 11.30am – 1.30pm

These sessions are open to everyone and are drop-ins. Please feel free to come along and join in as you can.

Laura Skaife-Knight, Chief Executive at NHS Orkney said: “We want to know what matters most to our patients and community and ensure that your feedback shapes the next chapter of our improvement journey. Our relationship with our community is a special one and we want your views to shape our future strategy, vision, and values so that we can create a plan for our future that is meaningful to those we serve and meets the needs of our local community. We look forward to listening to your feedback and experiences when we host these sessions in February as one of the many ways we are reconnecting with our community, listening and acting on feedback so that we can further improve care and services for our patients and community and the experience of working here for our staff.”

Meghan McEwen, Chair at NHS Orkney, said: “The opinions and views of our community are so important in making our strategy something we can all sign up to. There are a number of sessions available to allow everyone an opportunity to attend no matter where in Orkney they live, please take the opportunity to join us and share your views with us. NHS Orkney is committed to listening to our community and acting on the feedback we hear to improve and learn. This is a really challenging moment as we have come out of the pandemic and must adjust to financial challenges. The Board is committed to keeping our community at the heart of our decision making and these sessions are an opportunity to tell us what matters to you. I really look forward to seeing as many people there as possible, and hearing from you about what really matters.”
