Looking after our community and providing excellent care

Pausing of all elective non-urgent activity

NHS Orkney and Scottish Government are well prepared to deal with Corona Virus (COVID-19).  We understand that the current situation may be causing some concerns, but we want to reassure you we are taking steps to protect both patients and staff from any unnecessary exposure to COVID-19.

In order to protect our staff, patients and communities we are putting in place changes to the ways in which we deliver Health and Social Care Services in Orkney. From Wednesday 18th March 2020 to create capacity within our clinical teams we will be pausing all elective non-urgent activity including outpatients. We will continue to provide urgent and emergency care.

This will also mean that visiting consultants will no longer be seeing patients on Island as other Health Boards are cancelling their routine activities.

If you already have an appointment booked a member of our clinical administration team will be contacting you by letter or telephone over the next few days. If you have any questions, please contact 01856 888075.

We appreciate this may cause some anxiety and inconvenience, but this is a highly unusual situation and our priority needs to be protecting and safeguarding our patients and staff.
