NHS Near Me – GP Practices

Alternatives to visiting your local GP Practice

Should you become unwell, as an alternative to visiting your local GP Practice, it may be appropriate to hold the appointment over the telephone.

In order to reduce the potential spread of Covid-19, all GP Practices in Orkney now also have a virtual clinic option to enable some consultations to be held through an online video call.

As with any other appointment, you must first contact your local GP Practice who will arrange for an appointment to be booked in the normal manner. This may be telephone, virtual or face to face. Simply phone your local Practice and they will book the most appropriate appointment for you.

NHS Near Me virtual appointment

If a virtual appointment is the most appropriate for you and this has been booked, general information about using NHS Near Me is available by clicking here.

The short video below is also available showing how easy the process is to use:

  • To enter the virtual waiting room, simply select the appropriate GP link from the list below.
  • On entering the waiting room, your GP will know you are waiting and will join you shortly.
  • If the surgery is running late, you should receive a message advising you of the delay.

Please note:

Whilst the COVID-19 threat exists, patients from Flotta and Papa Westray will be redirected to their main Practices sites (which are Stromness and Westray, respectively).
